Tourism results 2011 in Spain
The president of Patronato de Turismo de la Costa del Sol has released the tourism results in this area during 2011. According to their data tourism grew by 3.5% during 2011 in the Costa del Sol and generated 8.000 million euros. In addition, there has been an increase in employment in companies of this sector in relation with 2010.
In 2011 Costa del Sol received 9.1 million visitors and both domestic (+2%) and international market (+5%) has grown, driven mainly by the recovery of the British market
In our opinion these are very positive data that confirm an upward trend in tourism, a key sector for the economy of the area.
It seems that most of the data are positive but also it has been highlighted the stay has been reduced from 13 to 9.3 days and the travel budget has fallen from 800 Euros to 760 Euros on average.
But not only the British market has recovered. Secondary markets such as France, Netherlands, Scandinavia and Russia have also improved.
